You can connect your own mailbox, such as Gmail, iCloud or Yahoo. Your mail then appears in Mail under My mail, and only you can see it. Replies go out through your own account, so they also end up in your own Sent folder.
Connecting with an app password
You connect with an app password: a separate code that you create with your email provider and that only works for this connection. You never hand over your regular password. To stop, click Disconnect or revoke the code with your email provider.
Some providers (such as KPN, Ziggo and most hosting companies) have no app passwords. Then you use the password of the email address itself.
How to connect an account
- Open your profile and choose the Email tab.
- Click Connect account and enter your email address.
- We recognise your email provider and show the steps for that provider. Each step has a button that opens the right page straight away.
- Paste the app password and click Connect. With Test connection you can check first that it works.
We then fetch the mail of the last 90 days. That can take a while; whatever has arrived is in Mail straight away.
