Under Sector you find documents for a particular field. For film and video that is the script: a Word document with the layout of a screenplay. You just keep writing, and the layout takes care of itself.
Making a script
In Files choose New, then Sector, Film and video and Script (screenplay). The script goes into the folder you are in. Put it in a team folder and your team members write along.
Writing
Above the script is a bar with the elements. The button of the line you are on lights up. Enter chooses what comes next by itself:
| Element | Example | After Enter |
|---|---|---|
| Scene heading | INT. KITCHEN - DAY | Action |
| Action | Sanne makes coffee. | Action |
| Character | SANNE | Dialogue |
| Dialogue | Do you want some? | Action |
| Parenthetical | (softly) | Dialogue |
| Transition | CUT TO: | Scene heading |
Centered and Lyrics are in the bar too. New scene adds a new scene straight after the line with your cursor.
The panel
The panel next to your script shows all your scenes. Click a scene to go there, search by title, or filter by a character. Each scene shows the number of words and who is in it.
Exporting
Under Export you save your script as a file: as a shooting script PDF (with MORE and CONT'D), for Final Draft (.fdx) or as Fountain (.fountain).
A script from another program
Uploading a Fountain file, for example from Beat or Highland? Choose Convert to script and keep writing here on A4 with the script elements.
